Rectus Femoris Musculotendinous Junction Tear – Result of Surgical Repair

Rectus Femoris Tear

A tear of the musculotendinous junction of the rectus femoris muscle is an uncommon injury.

Most surgeons do not have much experience in treating this entity surgically.

I had the opportunity to repair this tear for one footballer. He presented to me within 6 weeks of the injury.

The repair was technically demanding but possible. The recovery took about 2 to 3 months.

This is the clinical result of this particular patient at 6 months post-surgery. He has since returned to playing football at a competitive level.
